Third Place Development

The Third Place will be divided into 4 aspects of development:

Aspect 1: Community Base

Refurbishing of the current ‘Back Block’ creating contemporary youth and children’s facilities, community areas and spaces for rent or lease with partner organisations and for community activities. Some of the facilities that will be delivered through the Community Base include:

• A variety of multi purpose rooms for community use and for delivery of key services
• A fully equipped youth centre including activity areas, sport and recreation facilities, contemporary lounges, a gigging venue and offices
• Children’s facilities including multi use areas
• Areas for service delivery, support and information accessed by people with special needs and/or disabilities
• ‘Community Help Zone’ housing services such as a foodbank, advice centre, areas for seniors clubs, craft clubs and more

Aspect 2: Church and Conference Centre

A new building delivering a state of the art auditorium ideal for conferences, concerts, theatre productions, exhibitions and social events. There is currently very little of similar size or scope within the Halesowen area. Some of the facilities that will be delivered through the Church and Conference Centre:

• A circa 600 seat auditorium fully equipped with audio visual facilities.
• A creative centre for media production and recording.
• Lobby with a coffee lounge and various seating areas.
• A variety of community spaces such as a soft play area and meeting rooms

Aspect 3: Sports and Leisure

As well as some internal sports facilities in the Community Base, we will be providing external sports and leisure facilities as follows:

• A full-size M.U.G.A. (Multi Use Games Area) ideal for sports such as football, basketball, hockey, netball and general training
• A skate park
• A traverse climbing wall
• A space for activities such as cage football and team building exercises

These facilities will complement others in the area and provide additional recreational and sports opportunities in Halesowen town centre.

Aspect 4: Regeneration Development

This scheme utilises some of the current space at the front of the site and will enhance this sector of the town centre.

Options being considered include various types of residential and foyer schemes as well as ‘managed workspace’ possibilities.

Discussions are underway with the local authority and the private sector as to how this part of the project could release capital and provide much needed employment and regeneration.
