The Third Place development is an innovative and landmark venture that will transform the town centre of Halesowen, and provide invaluable services to thousands of youth, children and community members for many years to come.

Our current facility has served the vision well but is now no longer ‘fit for purpose’.  We’ve conducted surveys with a wide variety of current and potential users and worked closely with Dudley Borough Council and various public and private sector organisations to build up a profile of what is needed in the 21st Century for each main group.

We believe that after consulting so widely, The 3rd Place will complement other key developments in the area such as the Sixth Form development at Windsor High School and the recently completed Halesowen town shopping and bus station complex, in providing greatly improved community facilities.

The Third Place development

The project is split into four aspects:

• Community Base: redevelopment of the back block into dedicated Youth, Community and Children’s sections. Cost TBC
• Church and Conference Centre: new build of a main auditorium and a range of smaller meeting rooms for use by a wide cross section of the community. Cost £2m
• Sports and Leisure: multi use games area, skate park, traverse climbing wall and cage football to be situated in an Outdoor Sports and External Play area with a pavilion. Cost £200k
• Residential Scheme: removal of the current main block and redevelopment into social housing in conjunction with Dudley Borough Council

The Third Place development is already a multi agency, multi organisation initiative. However despite the generosity of many of the service users, it is a challenging target to meet, whilst we are keen that facilities continue to most closely match the needs of the local community.
